I think you make some important points. In my previous role the company transitioned to unlimited PTO and I'll admit I had some of the same reservations initially. But my experience was a bit different. I found that I took more time off under this policy that I had for the 3 years before that when I was accruing PTO. The difference for me was that I found myself on a great team that understood and valued each other. We knew the importance of taking off time, and we always brought our best when we were at work. I fully recognize that is not the case for most. I'd be very interested to hear your perspective on how people can manage this situation when they're not in a position to decide which to choose. If they are an employee, and don't want to leave their job, do you have any recommendations for how to not let unlimited PTO mean a loss of a benefit that we all hold dear?
